Retention is the window during which a backup recovery point remains available. It determines how far back you may be able to go when a mistake is discovered.

The published 30-day window
Backup 100, Backup 500, and Backup 1 TB list 30-day retention. As time passes, older recovery points may be removed under the retention policy. Retention does not mean every moment within those 30 days is recoverable: you can choose only from successful copies that still exist.

A simple timeline
Suppose a successful copy is created on 1 June. While it remains within a 30-day retention window, it may be available for a restore. By 2 July it is older than 30 days and may already have been removed as the window moves forward. Report accidental deletion promptly rather than waiting until an older copy ages out.

Backup is not an archive
Backup supports recovery from recent loss or mistakes. An archive preserves selected records for longer-term reference under a separate retention requirement. Do not use a rolling backup window as your only way to keep records you need for years. Discuss longer-term preservation separately with Edara.

Check availability before requesting recovery
Tell Edara when the data was last correct and ask which recovery points remain available. A longer retention option, if offered, needs confirmation of capacity, scope, and cost. Changing retention now cannot recreate a copy that was never made or has already been removed.
