Encryption makes backup information unreadable without the required means to unlock it. It is one part of protecting recovery copies, alongside controlled access and careful handling.

What encryption does
Encryption protects the contents of a copy from being read directly without authorization. In-transit encryption refers to protection while data moves; at-rest encryption refers to stored data. These are different parts of a service's security scope and should be confirmed for your backup arrangement.

What the plans specify
The published Edara Backup plans include encrypted backup. The catalog does not specify an algorithm, key-ownership option, or detailed security certification. Ask Edara for the applicable service details if your business has a specific security requirement before connecting sensitive data.

Who can request restored data?
Keep the people authorized to request restores up to date and agree where recovered data should be delivered. For example, a payroll recovery should go only to the approved recipient. Encryption does not replace checking identity, permissions, and the destination when handling a restore.

Encryption does not guarantee recovery
An encrypted copy must still be complete, available within retention, and suitable for the restore. Encryption does not correct missing files or replace backup monitoring. Confirm recovery arrangements and access requirements with Edara instead of treating encryption as a guarantee against every type of data loss.
